I found a hidden gem. Well it was hidden from me {at least}.
The Olive Tree is a fab-u-lous specialty shop located at the Dayton 2nd Street Market. They offer a variety of specialty and flavor-infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars.
All of their products are naturally flavored, with no artificial ingredients of any kind.
The olive oils originate from Morocco and are cold-pressed extra-virgin. They offer seven olive oil flavors including: Roasted Garlic, Rosemary, Truffle, Persian Lime, Jalapeno, Blood Orange, and Sundried Tomato & Parmesan. They also offer a specialty traditional unflavored olive oil imported from Spain.
Their balsamic vinegars originate from Modena Italy and are aged 12 to 18 years. They offer eight balsamic flavors including: Chili, Chocolate, Raspberry, Cinnamon Pear, Fig, Traditional, Coconut, and White Strawberry Peach.
yum in my tum. tum. 🙂
As you’re all well aware… I despise salad dressings and marinades with an ingredient list that looks more like a bottle of chemicals than real food. Yes…I know I’m a bit dramatic (aren’t all women?), but why do we need disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate, potassium sorbate, etc. etc. etc. in our food?
Instead of drenching your greens with a chemical-laden dressing, why not dress your salad with naturally flavored oil and vinegars?
I’m personally loving the Jalapeno Olive Oil over Mediterranean-ish salads and grilled veggies, and a mix of the Coconut Balsamic with Persian Lime Olive Oil over summer-fruit-ish salads. 🙂
I encourage you all to pick up a bottle!
