My motto – My motto is inspired by one of my favorite food journalists, Michael Pollan. He writes,  “Food is not just fuel. Food is about family, food is about community, food is about identity, and we nourish all those things when we eat well.” This quote encompasses my belief about food and nutrition. Both food and health are complex and dynamic, and, more importantly, are at the core of who we are as human beings. Together, we’ll look beyond your plate—at your exercise, your stress levels, your sleep— in order to nurture your health. My approach to health focuses on YOU, not just the food you eat.

My “why” – Nutrition isn’t easy—it’s complex and confusing and sometimes contradictory—and I spent a good portion of my teen years struggling with it. I was underfueling and overexerting my body through sports. Once I decided to pursue a career in dietetics, everything clicked. I dove deep into biology and anatomy to really understand how to nurture my body. Now, after learning how to take care of my health, I am a much happier and healthier person…and a better athlete! As a practitioner, my “why” is about helping people avoid confusion when navigating this complex world of health.

My credentials -I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ohio State University in Human Nutrition with a minor in Integrative Approaches to Health and Wellness. I completed my dietetic residency at California Polytechnic State University with a focus on Wellness Promotion. In addition, I am a registered and licensed dietitian and am certified in Plant Based Nutrition.

A personal touch: I LOVE reading! I will rave about my Kindle and how it changed my life to anyone who will listen! When I was in school, reading felt like a chore, but once I rediscovered my love for books, my world opened up! Generally, I just love a good story. Give me an interesting podcast, an engrossing documentary, or a new exciting TV show and I’m in!
