My motto – “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” I believe that food and the God given nutrients in our food were designed to have therapeutic effects in more ways than most people imagine. Not only do I believe that prioritizing healthy, nutritious food is beneficial at a physiological level, but also leaving some room for those treats that we all love is essential at the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. I believe in the model that food, in the right doses, is a foundational component for a life full of health, longevity, and joy.

My “why” – My passion for tasty and wholesome food has only grown stronger over the years, but my interest in and reasons for this passion have transformed through different chapters of my life. Initially, I was drawn to increasing my knowledge around nutrition for selfish reasons: to optimize my fitness, as nutrition is the greatest contributor. However, the more knowledge I gain, the more I want to share it with those I love and care about. After having a child of my own, I knew that I wanted to model healthy wellness habits so that, foundationally, they would become second nature for my daughter. My mission now is to guide others on a journey that optimizes their lives and overhauls their approach to wellness alongside the lives of those they love, so that they can enjoy the present moment and whatever their future unfolds.

My credentials – After completing six years in the military, I pursued my certified personal training (CPT) certificate from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). I then graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, with a bachelor’s degree in health science with a focus in nutrition. I continued my education at Miami University and obtained my Master’s in kinesiology, nutrition, and health.

Favorite indulgences: Mixed Nut Butter and Pickle Pizza (with chicken) from Roscoe’s

Two staples always in my kitchen: Homemade hummus and avocado

Favorite type of movement: Running has been my go-to since junior high, as it comes naturally to me, but weight training is winning my heart over.

Favorite way to spend time outside of the office: Anything with my daughter: from snowboarding and working out to cooking in the kitchen and snuggling on the sofa.

Most favorite cookbook or recipe inspiration: My mother and grandmother. They showed me how to make a dish called “scruminey-ha-ha.” It is when you take whatever is in your fridge, throw it in a dish, add some seasonings, and voila! Dinner is served! Some of my favorite dishes have emerged this way.

A personal touch: My desire to be the best possible version of myself and show up for others has been a driving force in my life for many years – practically to a fault. Now, being a mother, I am beginning to understand the importance of grace and enjoying the process on this journey we call life. I have learned that being present far surpasses perfection.
